CUT

The GIA cut scale ranges from excellent to poor. GIA determines the quality grade of the cut for normal round brilliants with a color of D-Z on the GIA color scale.

The beauty of a cut diamond is based on its complex interaction with light: How it strikes the surface, how much light enters the diamond, and how light is reflected from the diamond.

The result is a magnificent presentation of three attributes. Brightness is the total amount of internal and external white light reflected from the diamond. Fire describes the “scattering of light” that is created when white light that is transmitted from the diamond, is split into all colors of the rainbow. Scintillation, which is the amount of sparkle a diamond produces, the flashes of light observers see when they move the diamond, the source of light or themselves.

The proportions of a cut diamond influence its reflection of light, and this in turn determines the diamond’s beauty and overall appeal. Diamonds with harmonious proportions, a good symmetry and beautiful surface optimally transform the incident light and thus have a greater degree of brightness, fire and scintillation.

ID Diamonds uses only diamonds with best cut (Excellent).
